Sculpture 101: Grade 4 Creatures

Many of these students had very little prior experience creating 3 dimensional art. I introduced the project and we all discussed what a "challenge" was and what it took to "succeed" in a challenge. We decided this project required a positive and adaptable attitude that was not afraid to take risks. We enjoyed this challenge and as you can see below each student's personality shows through in their work!

4th graders had a blast with this exciting project. Students folded a piece of paper in half and used fabric paint to create half a heart. Students then folded the paper again and gently pressed and opened up the paper to reveal a perfectly symmetrical heart. 

4th Grade Ripped Paper Snow Portriats

4th graders were given the challenge of not using scissors. Each student created a portrait of themselves in the snow. After the paper was glued students added snowflakes and pom-poms. 

Sensational Shacks

4th Grade: Apples in a Basket

Students in the 4th Grade studied the concept of value and learned how to shade a sphere. Students learned how to weave paper and created a basket. Being that it is fall and our area has many apple farms students were each given a real apple to study. Students looked at their apples then rendered their red paper with highlights and shadows to create a realistic effect. 4th graders were very excited to be able to consume their juicy red-cort apples for lunch that day.
