4th Grade Symmetry Hearts

4th graders enjoyed the excitement of the unpredictability in these symmetry hearts. Students used puff paint to create half a heart, folded the paper in half, pressed down gently then opened it and WHA-LA!: Magic! 

Hearts were hung in the hallway for everyone to enjoy!

3 Grade Mixed Media Hearts

"Our Hearts Together"

Students used a heart stencil to trace over paint-sponged construction paper. Each student designed 4 different hearts using ribbon, oil pastels, buttons and glitter. Students then cut the heart into fourths and gave three quarters of each heart away to another student in the class.  

3rd graders really enjoyed this collaborative activity and communicated to their classmates by statements such as "I need a bottom right, anyone have a bottom right?", "I have a top left, who needs a top left?", "I do!" and so on...

2nd Grade Jim Dine Inspired Hearts 

Students were introduced to the artist Jim Dine and his series of multiples.

4x6"  pieces of silver paper was glued on top of cardboard, permanent markers were used to color.
