March is Music In Our School Month,
Kindergarteners and first graders were introduced to drums from all over the world and their different functions. The "kindergarten clan" were given the colors red, black and yellow. The "first grade clan" were given the secondary colors of green, orange and purple. Students read stories about drums in the library, where their drums sit on display on top of the bookshelves.
We put dry rice inside of our drums so they would also function as maracas!
We painted zigzags, stripes and dots to portray authentic geometric forms
